Ryan Day, Chris Holtmann, Gene Smith giving charitably

As the coronavirus continues to leave many families in Ohio without proper food or ways to make ends meet, football coach Ryan Day, basketball coach Chris Holtmann and athletic director Gene Smith and their families are teaming up to help out.

All three prominent members of the Ohio State athletic department are together donating $35,000 per month between April and August to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund, which helps the food bank acquire and distribute food to families in need during this tough time.

For every dollar donated, the food bank can secure $9 worth of groceries. With the total donation of $175,000 between now and August, the donations will help with $1.5 million worth of groceries, the athletic department said in a statement released Tuesday.

“So many people in our community are struggling to feed their families right now,” Smith said in that statement. “Our families wanted to do something to support those who need help. By contributing to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, we know we can make a significant impact.”

The families are hoping their donations will help inspire Ohio State fans to give, as well. For more information, as well as how to donate, click here.

Jonah Jackson breaks down his own film

Jonah Jackson has been busy gearing up for the NFL Draft. That includes breaking down his own film from this past season at Ohio State, and while the tape is rolling, he might as well take a look at Josh Myers and Wyatt Davis, his fellow interior linemen for the Buckeyes.

There may not be a more dominant example of the Buckeyes offensive line last season than the opening statement drive that resulted in a touchdown against one of the country’s best defenses, Penn State. Jackson and the offensive line led the Buckeyes’ run-heavy offense down the field for a huge drive that wore the Nittany Lions defense down.

What made the interior of the Ohio State offensive line so effective? How early will Jonah Jackson be selected in the NFL Draft after his breakout season at guard? Where is the ceiling for Josh Myers and Wyatt Davis as they return to the Buckeyes? Jackson joined Lettermen Row in the virtual film lab for the first time to answer some of those questions and break down one of the most impressive drives of the season in the latest episode of BuckIQ.
