Ohio State names champions from blowout win over Northwestern

Following Ohio State’s dominant 52-3 win over Northwestern, coach Ryan Day said he thought all three units played well. The tape proved that, too. The champions were released Monday afternoon, and 26 Buckeyes were named on the list.

Many of the Ohio State backups made the list of champions, showing the talent and work of the second-team players against an obviously overmatched Northwestern team. Some of the typical names made their way onto the list as well, just in time for Ohio State’s big showdown against No. 13 Wisconsin on Saturday.

Offense: RB J.K. Dobbins, RB Master Teague, TE Luke Farrell, TE Jeremy Ruckert, RB Mitch Rossi, WR Chris Olave, WR Garrett Wilson, WR K.J. Hill, OL Josh Myers, OL Wyatt Davis, OL Branden Bowen

Offensive Players of the Game: QB Justin Fields, OL Jonah Jackson

Defense: DE Chase Young, DT Davon Hamilton, DT Tommy Togiai, DE Jonathon Cooper, DT Antwuan Jackson, S Brendon White, CB Damon Arnette, CB Jeff Okudah, CB Sevyn Banks, S Jordan Fuller, S Amir Riep

Defensive Player of the Game: LB Malik Harrison

Kicker Blake Haubeil, who knocked in a 55-yard field goal to end the first half, was named Special Teams Player of the Game.

Ohio State basketball cracks top 20 in preseason AP Poll

After back-t0-back NCAA Tournament appearances in his first two seasons, Chris Holtmann has the Buckeyes ready for lofty expectations this season. The Buckeyes will return a lot of their key contributors from last season’s 20-15 record, and for that, they checked in at No. 18 in the Preseason AP Poll, which was released Monday.

The Buckeyes will play six different teams that were ranked in the preseason poll.

Ohio State opens its season with Cincinnati on Nov. 6 in Columbus. The Bearcats are not ranked, but they did receive votes.

New Birminology with latest Ohio State commitment

The latest Birminology focuses in on Ohio State’s newest addition to the 2020 class, cornerback Ryan Watts from Little Elm, Texas.
