Ohio State dominates rivalry, turns to Big Ten title game

The Buckeyes went to Ann Arbor on Saturday and beat down a Michigan team that was a trendy pick to pull an upset. Ohio State erased that notion and dominated the rivalry game again, beating the Wolverines 56-27.

Ohio State struggled to contain the Michigan offense in the first half, but the Buckeyes made key adjustments at halftime and limited Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson to an abysmal second half. Justin Fields, J.K. Dobbins and the Ohio State offense kept their foot on the gas and demolished the Wolverines defense, as Ryan Day and the Buckeyes had their way for the second straight season in the rivalry. Ohio State has won eight straight in The Game. It can now turn its attention to the Big Ten title game against Wisconsin.

Buckeyes still stuck behind LSU in coaches, media polls

The Buckeyes already made the leap into the top spot in the eyes of the College Football Playoff committee. But Ohio State still can’t find a way to the top spot in the Amway Coaches Poll.

LSU retained the top spot, which it has held since the first week of November. Ohio State checked in at No. 2, while Clemson, Georgia and Utah rounded out the top five heading into conference championship games.

With the rivalry win over Michigan in the rearview, Ohio State can turn its attention to capping off a 13-0 season heading into the CFP by beating Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game.

Ohio State heavily favored for Big Ten title game

Ohio State has already dominated Wisconsin once this season. The Buckeyes offense exploded on the Badgers, while holding them to next to nothing thanks to great defense, in a rain-soaked Ohio Stadium in October, winning 38-7.

The only thing that stands between Ohio State’s perfect season as it barrels toward the College Football Playoff is that same Wisconsin team. When they meet in Indianapolis on Saturday night for the Big Ten championship game, the Buckeyes opened as 18-point favorites, according to VegasInsider.com.

The Buckeyes improved to 9-3 against the number this season with the blowout of Michigan. Wisconsin is 7-5 this season against the spread. The Badgers didn’t cover the 13.5-point spread when the Buckeyes beat them earlier this season.
