Scarlet Sunrise: Ohio State football will be tested by TCU but should have answers

Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise! Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Ohio State’s moment of truth

What happens if TCU keeps it close after two straight blowouts? Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward tackled that topic in Wednesday’s question of the day:

Not everybody has performed on this type of stage with the stakes at the highest in the fourth quarter, and there are certainly Buckeyes who will need to show that they’re ready for it. Dwayne Haskins, for example, hasn’t yet had to lead the offense from start to finish as the starter, even if he’s shown he can handle a fourth quarter in adverse situation already in his young career. But odds are, Ohio State might embrace the opportunity to find out what it’s made of if TCU does indeed provide the kind of slugfest it’s expecting down at AT&T Stadium.

There’s only one way to get that experience, and the Buckeyes figure to be prepared for it after two weeks of easing into the schedule.

Nick Bosa talks Heisman odds

Nick Bosa isn’t buying any stock in his own Heisman Trophy campaign.

“I mean, I’m just trying to play well on film,” Bosa said after practice on Wednesday. “I’m just trying to make every play that I’m out there a good play and not give anybody anything bad to say about me. The hype is just whatever.

“I don’t think any defensive player is winning a Heisman, so … we’ll see, but I don’t know who votes for it.”

FSU commit will visit Ohio State

Florida State commitment Renardo Green, the country’s 40th-ranked cornerback and a 3-star prospect from Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva, will take an official visit to Ohio State on Nov. 24 when the Buckeyes take on the Michigan Wolverines.

Green is a teammate of Georgia commitment Rian Davis and Ohio State target Tyler Davis, a 4-star defensive tackle. He previously visited Columbus with that pair in June for a one-day camp, which yielded a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes.

Cade Stover wrestles a bull

Ohio State commit Cade Stover is doing a weekly post for Lettermen Row this season, and his latest installment included the kind of story few recruits get to experience.

It seems like whatever we do, though, there is always one unusual thing that usually happens. We found one of our bulls that was out with the female cows had an abscess in his ear, so Dad and I had to put him in the barn to work on him through our cattle chute.

As you can imagine, that is a huge struggle. His neck is so massive that he can’t fit into the head lock of the chute so we can hold him still to work on him. We had to lure him close with grain, and then we got a halter on his head. Then it was up to me to hold his head back while dad lanced the abscess in his ear. I tell you, every day I feel like I’m doing something most people wouldn’t understand. It was a success though, and he feels much better with that out of his ear and his manner is back up.

Meet Lettermen Row in DFW

In addition to covering the Ohio State-TCU game, Lettermen Row will be at two Ohio State fan events the weekend of the big matchup. On Friday night, we’ll be at The Flying Saucer in downtown Fort Worth for the OSU Buckeye Rally hosted by the OSU Alumni Club of DFW. The event runs from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. and info can be found here.

On game day, be sure to stop by the OSU Alumni Club of DFW Tailgate Party near the stadium. We’ll also be there, and info on how to attend can be found here.
