Five-star Ohio State target commits to Michigan

Ohio State has dominated Michigan on the field for the last two decades. But Michigan seems to be making a push to try changing that narrative. Landing a five-star prospect the Buckeyes were hoping for will help the Wolverines.

Five-star 2022 cornerback Will Johnson, a Michigan legacy from Grosse Point, Michigan, picked the Wolverines over the Buckeyes and USC on Sunday.

Johnson was at one time thought to be leaning toward spurning the Wolverines to pick Ohio State, but now that Michigan has a new defensive coaching staff with young energy, the Buckeyes biggest rival seems to be on the right path, and that includes landing Johnson and keeping him from the stockpile of talent at Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are certainly still the kings of the Big Ten, but Michigan is hoping to begin changing that. The decision by Will Johnson could have an impact.

Four-star wide receiver commits to Ohio State

Ohio State has found recruiting success in Arizona once again: wide receiver Kyion Grayes committed to the Buckeyes on Sunday morning.

There are a number of different types of athletes in the receivers room at Ohio State and though Grayes isn’t going to blow anyone away with his physicality, he’s well put together at almost 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds already. His game looks easy — effortless to some degree — and he’s beyond his years as a route-runner. Grayes is a sure-handed, polished receiver for his age and does a great job catching the ball away from his body which helps him create space in instances where there may not be much of it.

The No. 11 commitment in the Class of 2022 for Ohio State, Kyion Grayes is the second receiver in the mix for the Buckeyes and Brian Hartline. The No. 2-ranked player in Arizona, Grayes committed to Ryan Day and Hartline over the Oregon Ducks and 15 other offers, though his recruitment seemed almost like a done deal from the moment Hartline offered last fall.

Ohio State has more commitments in 2022 than any other program in the country (LSU has 10) and its per-player average according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings also is better than any other school at the moment.

Buckeyes fall to Iowa for third-straight loss

Two weeks ago, Ohio State seemed to be one of the hottest teams in the country.

That now feels like forever ago for the Buckeyes, who dropped their third straight game Sunday afternoon to No. 9 Iowa inside the Schottenstein Center.

The 73-57 final score was the latest in three straight reminders of just how tough it is to string together wins in the Big Ten, the best conference in college basketball, even for a team that was playing as well as any team in the league after seven-straight wins.

A sloppy first half put the Buckeyes behind, and they couldn’t claw their way back thanks to 24 points from Iowa All-American big man Luka Garza. It didn’t help that Ohio State struggled to defend the Hawkeyes, just as the Buckeyes have struggled to defend throughout the season.

The Buckeyes (18-7, 12-7 Big Ten) now enter a crucial break before returning to action Saturday against another top-10 team, Illinois. But before they return to practice to try figuring out what went wrong, Lettermen Row is breaking down their third-straight loss — and second straight home loss — with Three Points of how it happened.
