College football rankings: Ohio State stays put after Big Ten win

COLUMBUS — After moving up to No. 3 with last week’s win at Penn State, Ohio State remains in that position again in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll after its win over Indiana. The Buckeyes again received a first-place vote, and are regularly receiving at least one each week along with Alabama and Clemson.

Regarding the rest of the Big Ten, Michigan State is the only team trending downward after Week 6 of play, and actually fell out of the top-25  after their loss to Northwestern. However, the rest of the conference looks to be back on track as Penn State hopped three spots to No. 8, Michigan jumped three places to No. 13 and Wisconsin bumped up two spots to No. 10.

Ohio State also remained at No. 3 in the AP Poll after beating Indiana last week. Like the coaches poll, the Buckeyes, Tiger and Crimson Tide all received first-place votes, but an interesting note is that Ohio State trails No. 2 Georgia in the rankings’ points by just six.

Similar to the coaches poll, the only Big Ten team in last week’s rankings to not improve this week was Michigan State after the Spartans fell out of the AP Poll this week. Additionally, Penn State and Michigan moved up three spots to No. 8 and No. 11, respectively, while Wisconsin only rose one spot to No. 15.
