AP Poll: Ohio State projected as Big Ten favorite, outside CFP

COLUMBUS — Just as Ohio State fans waited to see who the starting quarterback would be, the Buckeyes found out where the members of the media have projected them for the season.

Ohio State will begin the season No. 5 in the country according to the AP Poll voters as the preseason version was released on Monday.

The Buckeyes were again projected as the best team in the conference after back-to-back conference championships. Ohio State rival Michigan checks in at No. 7 after generating some offseason buzz as a challenger for the top spot in the league. There are seven Big Ten teams ranked by the media to begin the season.

Clemson took the top spot, followed by Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma. Ohio State is projected on the outside of the College Football Playoff as the season begins according to the media members who cast votes in the poll.

As the poll sits, Ohio State will play five ranked opponents. The first of those will come against Nebraska. The Buckeyes will travel to take on the Cornhuskers on Sept. 28.

The Buckeyes, who finished third in the final coaches poll a season ago, were ranked fifth in the AmWay Coaches Poll, which was released on Aug. 1. Ohio State was the highest-ranked team in the Big Ten in that poll. Seven Big Ten teams were ranked in the coaches poll.

It seems to be that If any team in the Big 10 has so much as 1 blemish on their schedule, they are automatically cast out of the CFP discussion. But if you are Alabama, Clemson, or Georgia you can get beaten by an unranked opponent in the Holy Almighty SEC, or in Alabama’s case lose twice and still make the playoffs…..Pitiful. With the schedule we have, we should be at least a 2 touchdown favorite or more in every game except Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Two of those games are at home(thank the Lord no whiteout at pedophile… Read more »

We don’t seem to get respect from most of the media or writers. We will just have to let our talking be done on the Field with Fields. Ryan Day gets no credit at all for knowing what he is doing even tho he has been the OC for 2 yrs and an acting Head Coach last season. I think he actually did more of the HC last year than we know
We will silence the Buckeye Haters #GOBUCKS
