Mattison & LJ are a dynamite combo both in terms of coaching expertise and elite recruiters. If Washington doesn’t come Mattison will have a short list of top quality candidates. Washington will have to think very hard about this. Working with 2 of the best defensive coaches in the business and knowing that both are close to retirement means he is in the prime position to be a co-DC for OSU. Helluva an opportunity. Well. Admittedly not what I expected, but I can get on-board. Especially if Al Washington comes over as LB/DC in training coach. Wouldn’t have been something if Coombs decided the NFL wasn’t for him and came back to for CB/co-DC?
