Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players themselves. Birminology shows who the young men being recruited by Ohio State truly are — by talking to them. Today’s guest is 2021 5-star running back Will Shipley who made his first visit to Ohio State over the Oct. 26 weekend as the Buckeyes hosted Wisconsin.
Ohio State is squarely in the mix to land 5-star running back prospect Will Shipley following the junior tailback’s first visit to Columbus. The trip appears to have moved the Buckeyes from the periphery of his recruitment to the center.
“It definitely exceeded expectations,” Shipley told Lettermen Row on Sunday afternoon. “I didn’t know what to think coming in, but everything about it was incredible.”
The fact that a recruit had a good time on a recruiting visit isn’t groundbreaking. In fact, it’s expected.
But for Shipley, this trip wasn’t about having a good time. It was about finding a good fit, and he saw that at Ohio State and now knows he’ll have to return to campus again in the future.
What caught his attention the most? What did he and his father think about Ryan Day and Tony Alford? You can find out those answers and a lot more in this week’s edition of Birminology on Lettermen Row.
