Today’s question dives into the early signing period and how Ohio State could be affected because of Urban Meyer’s retirement.
Ohio State Recruiting Question of the Day
To what degree will the uncertainty with position coaches effect this class ( early signers more importantly) . Waiting til after a bowl game to decide their fates seems like it could work against kids that sign early.

With change comes uncertainty. With uncertainty comes fear. And with fear comes reluctance to move forward.
Yes, absolutely, there are going to be some Ohio State commits, even ones that ultimately decide to stay pledged to the program, who have their signing day, enrollment and college choice plans affected by Urban Meyer’s retirement.
Losing Meyer is one part of the puzzle — and a major one, of course — but that has already been answered. Ryan Day is the head coach moving forward, and he’s now the face of the program. If a young man committed to Meyer and wants out because of that, it’s understandable. For many kids though, losing Meyer is just one thing to consider.
The question about whether or not the assistant coaches recruiting these prospects and their families are sticking around is another. Day says the Buckeyes will evaluate “everything” after Ohio State returns from the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately for some recruits, that means they may not know the fate of their position coach until after the early signing period ends.
Unfortunately for Ohio State, that means some kids are adjusting their signing day plans.
Doug Nester, the first commitment in the 2019 class, announced on Wednesday that he’d be delaying his signing and his plans to early enroll. A long-time pledge that has been solid to Ohio State, Nester will now take official visits to other schools because of the uncertainty around Meyer’s departure.
Cornerback commit Jordan Battle remains a tussle between the Buckeyes and Alabama, and he’s not going to sign anything in December, either. I also don’t think Cade Stover will sign this month.
So what are the early signing plans for the rest of the 2019 class? Here’s our best guess as to where things stand right now.
|NAME||SIGNING IN DECEMBER?||ENROLLING IN JANUARY?|
Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff will be all over the country during these next two weeks in an effort to change the mind of any kids planning on delaying their signing until February.
