Today’s Ohio State recruiting Question of the Day
Hey there, and welcome back to the Lettermen Row Recruiting Question of the Day.
Today’s question comes from Mike on Twitter.
How filled out do we expect the ‘19 class to be by the end of the summer/start of season
— Mike (@MWS2818) July 11, 2018
Thanks Mike on Twitter.
There’s nothing easier than predicting the future, especially when it involves reading the minds of 17-year-old kids, so let’s just get right to it, OK?
This here is the definitive* list of players that will be committed to Ohio State before the end of August. There are 14 players currently with verbal pledges to the Buckeyes, and you can check out each of those dudes by clicking this link right here.
Who will** join them before Ohio State kicks off its 2018 football season?
5-star defensive end Zach Harrison will commit to Ohio State
Zach Harrison is down to three schools. He is still considering Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. The Buckeyes can’t afford to lose the best prospect in Ohio for the second straight year, and they definitely can’t afford to lose this one to an in-conference rival.
A decision is expected before Aug. 14.
4-star wide receiver Jameson Williams is going to the Buckeyes
Jameson Williams is one of the fastest wide receivers in the country and has been a top target for Ohio State for months. He took an official visit to the school in June and has told Lettermen Row that the Buckeyes are his leader. There is not a decision date planned, but I think he’ll commit before the season. That’s why he’s on this list.
4-star wide receiver Marcus Washington won’t wait until the season to choose a school
Washington has told folks around the country that he had wanted to decide at some point in August before backing off that stance a bit at Nike’s The Opening. Washington wants to make a few more visits before making a commitment, and I think that he can get to Texas – one of the schools he wants to see – and still decide before September. When he does, I think it will be Ohio State edging out Missouri for his pledge.
3-star defensive back Peyton Powell will pick the Buckeyes over everyone else
Odessa (Texas) Permian quarterback Peyton Powell is making his college choice on Aug. 13. I think he’ll pick the Buckeyes that day.
3-star defensive tackle D’Von Ellies is going to fulfill his dream and commit to Ohio State
Ohio State is the long-time favorite for Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh defensive tackle D’Von Ellies. I believe he’ll commit to the Buckeyes in the near future.
So, there you have it. These are the guys that absolutely*** will join Ohio State’s 2019 recruiting class by the end of August.
Editor’s Note:
* This list is not definitive.
** It’s almost 100-percent likely that this doesn’t all happen.
*** Birm is totally guessing.
